Andrew Cuomo Criticizes Democrats Over Immigration Policy

Former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has lashed out at Democrats, saying the party’s open border policies harm Americans and migrants. During a media interview, Cuomo said he understands the underlying philosophy, which holds that America is a land of immigrants and so people should be permitted to move here, but he argued that how this is managed is critical.

Mr. Cuomo said cities are overwhelmed as no plans were implemented to determine where immigrants would go or how their needs would be funded. “New York has a couple of hundred thousand in hotels, costing New York City a fortune,” he added.

Democrat Cuomo, who was forced to resign in 2023 over sexual harassment claims that he denies, also questioned President Biden’s ability to see out a second term. He said he believes Biden is too old and frail to lead the nation, adding that the President has not presented a persuasive argument for his re-election.

According to recent polls, most Americans agree with Cuomo’s assessment, and only 38% think the President will live to see the end of a second term. An April survey further revealed that 36% believe Kamala Harris will become US President if Joe Biden wins in November.

The survey revealed that voters have slightly more confidence in Donald Trump. Fifty-four percent expressed confidence that Trump will still be alive in 2029, while 21% disagree.

Experts note that voters increasingly view President Biden through a social media prism rather than focusing on his policies or speeches. James Johnson, cofounder of JL Partners, which conducted the survey, said viral social media clips featuring the President’s gaffes or stumbles are seen by far more voters than, for example, his State of the Union address in Congress earlier this year.

President Biden insists his age is not what matters, but the age of his ideas. Attacking Trump, Biden said, “Hate, anger, revenge, retribution are among the oldest of ideas.”
