Three diners in El Paso, TX, were penalized by health inspectors for more than fifty offenses between May 28 and 30. An ice machine covered with black and pink sludge, an employee touching packaged food with bare hands, and two lifeless cockroaches in a storage area were among the infractions.
A passing grade is 70 or above. The business will be closed if the score is 60 or below.
The state of a business may not be accurately reflected by a single examination. Restaurants that do not pass inspections get a chance to fix the issues so they may be inspected again.
Los Tragones had 20 violations, with 59 points.
The ice machine had a black mold-like material that was seen embedded in the ice. The ice machine and the contents were marked with a hold order.
In a double-door reach-in fridge, inspectors found raw meat above vegetables. Raw meats and other animal products must be in a separate area from cooked and ready-to-eat meals. The ice machine had a moldy black and pink slime on it. It was ordered to be cleaned, rinsed, and disinfected.
With a total of seventeen infractions, Los Toreados’ score was 65.
A white, fuzzy substance was seen on cucumbers in their container inside the walk-in refrigerator. A malfunction was detected with the server station’s bottom unit refrigerator. Temperatures of 41 degrees or below are required for refrigeration equipment.
Near the dishwashing area and in the serving area, bins that normally hold clean dishes were found to be smeared with grease and food waste. All surfaces that do not come into contact with food should be kept clean.
With 17 infractions, including keeping raw beef and cooked chicken on the same prep table, Pho Tre Bien Express received a 66.
Two dead cockroaches were found in the storage room. Food was stacked on the floor beneath a three-compartment sink.
An 85 reinspection score was given to Los Toreados restaurant on May 31st.
After a second round of inspections on May 30, Los Tragones was also given a score of 85.
