Isaiah Buggs Arrested for Domestic Violence, Burglary in Alabama

Defensive lineman Isaiah Buggs, a former Alabama football standout and current Kansas City Chiefs player, had his bond revoked on animal cruelty charges after being arrested on additional counts over the weekend.

The 27-year-old Buggs was taken into custody on Sunday morning on suspicion of second-degree burglary and second-degree domestic abuse. He was freed early Monday after being placed on a 24-hour domestic violence hold with a bail of $5,000.

Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office records show that the Chiefs defensive tackle was released on Sunday after being arrested for the second time in a month.

Additional information on the arrest was not provided. Although they were aware of the situation, the Chiefs chose not to comment.

Buggs, a 27-year-old who inked a $1,292,500 deal with the Chiefs for the next season, surrendered to authorities on May 30 following his arrest on two misdemeanor charges of second-degree animal cruelty. Two canines under Buggs’ care reportedly ended up mistreated and undernourished; one of them had to be put down.

Alabama native Buggs spent three years with the Steelers and the last two with the Lions as a run-stuffing tackle. Through 56 games played, 23 of which he started, he has 89 tackles and two sacks.

The Chiefs intended to utilize Buggs to strengthen their middle line. That was, however, before they acquired free agents Tershawn Wharton and Derrick Nnadi and signed All-Pro tackle Chris Jones to a long-term contract.

The Chiefs, who are attempting to win a record-tying third consecutive Super Bowl, have been embroiled in a slew of off-field legal disputes since their February victory against the 49ers. On Thursday, they celebrated their latest triumph with a ring ceremony.

The two severely malnourished, emaciated, and neglected dogs were discovered in Buggs’ rental home.

According to his agent, Trey Robinson, the canines were not Buggs’s, and he had no idea they were still at the rental house.
