Impeachment Push Over Iran Strikes

President Donald Trump’s decision to launch military strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities without Congressional approval ignited immediate political fury from progressive Democrats. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) led the charge, arguing the action was a clear abuse of power.

“The President’s disastrous decision to bomb Iran without authorization is a grave violation of the Constitution and Congressional War Powers,” Ocasio-Cortez stated on social media. “He has impulsively risked launching a war that may ensnare us for generations. It is absolutely and clearly grounds for impeachment.”

Trump’s “Make My Day” Response

President Trump responded to the impeachment call with a lengthy and personal attack on his Truth Social platform. He insulted the Congresswoman’s intelligence before directly challenging his political opponents with a line made famous by actor Clint Eastwood.

“Stupid AOC, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, one of the ‘dumbest’ people in Congress, is now calling for my Impeachment, despite the fact that the Crooked and Corrupt Democrats have already done that twice before,” Trump wrote, as reported by Newsweek. He concluded the post by writing, “so go ahead and try Impeaching me, again, MAKE MY DAY!”

Ocasio-Cortez fired back on X, tweeting, “Mr. President, don’t take your anger out on me—I’m just a silly girl. Take it out on whoever convinced you to betray the American people and our Constitution by illegally bombing Iran and dragging us into war.”

Viral Eastwood Letter Debunked

Separately from Trump’s movie quote, a long-debunked letter supportive of the President and falsely attributed to Clint Eastwood has resurfaced on social media. The letter, which begins, “I love it when people call Trump Stupid,” was not written by the actor.

According to fact-checkers at USA Today and Politifact, the text originated in a 2019 letter to the editor written by a New Hampshire state representative, Fred Doucette. While Eastwood has expressed some support for Trump in the past, he has also been critical, telling the Wall Street Journal in 2020 that he wished the President would act “in a more genteel way, without tweeting and calling people names.” The viral letter does not reflect his nuanced views.
