Since the 46th president of the United States Joe Biden entered the oval office in January of 2021, the national political climate in the union has continued to deteriorate. While political tensions in America have undoubtedly been on the rise over the last decade in the terms of three presidents, fiscal, social, and cultural conditions in the country have sizably worsened under the Biden administration. Across all 50 states, working class citizens have grappled with the effects of record levels of inflation not witnessed in decades brought about by reckless government spending. At the southern border, over 5 million illegal migrants have crossed the porous region into the nation since 2021.
The issue of illegal migration continues to be a major problem and an issue of heightened discussion in American political discourse. The former 45th president and the incumbent 46th commander in chief Joe Biden and Donald Trump took the stage in the first debate of the election cycle on June 27th. Trump and Biden went head to head, but Biden appeared embarrassingly incoherent at times. He often presented dazed and glassy expressions while on stage and was unable to even create cohesive sentences. Ultimately, voters took notice, with some 72% of people saying in a CBS poll following the debate that they believed Biden was not cognitively fit to be president.
Trump continues to be deadlocked in a tight contest with Biden nationally, and the election is likely to be decided by a handful of crucial swing states like Pennsylvania, Nevada, California, and others. Trump remains vulnerable, though, and is still widely unpopular. He was recently convicted of a felony in relation to a hush money trial with the adult film actress Stormy Daniels. Daniels recently stated she was worried about a second Trump presidency and claimed that all Americans should be worried of this occurrence. For many citizens, though, daily life has markedly deteriorated since Trump left office.
