Paris Hilton Hits Back After Criticism Over Improperly Putting on Son’s Life Vest

Paris Hilton is mainly famous for being famous, with no one really understanding what catapulted the hotel heiress into the spotlight originally.

They say that for some people, any attention is good attention, even if it’s negative, and Hilton is certainly getting eyeballs on her for the social media videos she’s been posting showcasing her family life. TikTok users are sounding the alarm over what they believe is her bad parenting after Hilton posted a video of her son enjoying the water on a vacation.

In the video, Hilton’s one-year-old son (the father is her husband Carter Reum) Phoenix wander around a luxury boat without a life jacket during the family’s vacation to France in July. She posted that it was “so special” to watch her son explore the outdoors. The little boy can be seen toddling around the catamaran while the boat cruised across the water. He called out to his mother while climbing around the deck.

What Hilton thought would be a sweet moment turned out to be an opportunity for fans and followers to warn her about not putting a life preserver on little Phoenix. Multiple users, many of them mothers, urged Hilton to always put a life jacket on her child.

The day after she posted the video, Hilton responded to the people criticizing her by saying that she and her husband were very close to the boy and that he was not in any danger. She was lighthearted in tone, thanking the “mammas” for their concern and advice, and saying “my babies are my world.”

Hilton, who married Reum in 2021, also has a nine-month-old daughter with her husband.

But this isn’t the first time Hilton has posted a video on the water with her kids that raised the eyebrows of fans. In May she shared another on TikTok showing Phoenix swimming, and eagle-eyed watchers told her that she’d fastened the life jacket backwards.

When people pointed this out, Hilton was gracious, and thanked those who confirmed for her that it was backwards, but said she never let her little boy out of her arms.

The “Simple Life” star replied to the social media user, writing, “Oops! Thank you! I never let him out of my arms. Thought it was backwards too, I said that to the person who I bought it from & they said it was on right. But thank you so much for letting me know.”
