Latino Voter Switches to Supporting Trump, Explains Why

A Latino voter, who works as a paralegal in Pennsylvania for a growing community of Latinos in her area, said she can no longer support President Joe Biden and explained why she decided to support former President Donald Trump’s campaign instead.

Milves Teresa, once a supporter of Biden, is now a volunteer for Trump’s campaign. Correspondent George Solis approached Teresa and she explained why she changed allegiance ahead of the 2024 presidential election, which is less than 100 days away.

On Wednesday, July 31, Solis appeared on MSNBC’s “Andrea Mitchell Reports” and shared the footage of Teresa after visiting Reading to interview locals to assess their sentiments ahead of the election as Pennsylvania has become the battleground state of all battleground states. Just a few weeks prior, Trump also perished in an attempted assassination in Butler County, and he’s been campaigning heavily in the Keystone State over the last year. As of 2023, there are about 1.1 million Latinos in the state, with the highest concentration in Philadelphia, Lancaster, Berks, and Lehigh Counties.

Teresa is one of the Reading residents interviewed in what is sometimes called the “Latino belt” of Pennsylvania, a demographic that will have a big impact on whether or not the state flips red in November. She said she abandoned Biden and will not support his anointed Democratic candidate, Vice President Kamala Harris, because she “just doesn’t trust her.” When questioned further by Solis, she said Harris’ “background” made her distrust her as a candidate. Teresa said the election comes down to what people want for their country and their children.

Solis told Mitchell the Latino voters he encountered in the Berk County city were “very energized” and many stressed the importance of the Latino vote in the upcoming contest. He said both the Harris campaign and the Trump campaign were aware of the sentiment among Latino voters in this particular area of Pennsylvania.

Solis noted that there isn’t a clear timetable for Trump as to when a rally will be held there. Harris, on the other hand, has around 24 campaign offices set up in the area and that is making more voters there realize the central role they play in determining the next president.
