A fundraiser in support of Jan. 6 defendants scheduled for this week at the New Jersey golf club of former President Donald Trump was just indefinitely postponed.
The event, titled “J6 Awards Gala,” was hosted and sponsored by Stand in the Gap, a non-profit with a stated mission of providing “unwavering support” to Jan. 6 defendants and the defendants’ families throughout their time in prison in order to “alleviate” their” profound burden.” The event was scheduled to take place on Thursday, Sept. 5, at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, NJ.
The official Stand in the Gap website now lists the event as “postponed” temporarily and that the time and location will be announced. L.J. Fino, the event organizer, said “scheduling conflicts” among the guest speakers were the reason for the postponement. Trump was invited to speak at the event and is depicted on the flier, but under his name, it only says “invited” while the other guest speakers are all listed as “confirmed,” leading to speculation that perhaps the former president’s schedule could be the reason the event will be rescheduled.
Among the speakers confirmed is former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, one of Trump’s former attorneys who is also dealing with several legal battles alongside the former president related to the 2020 election. Other guests include UFC Champion Colby Covington, social media influencer Bryce Hall, former Trump White House Trade Advisor Peter Navarro, young conservative influencer Bo Loudon, political commentator/comedian Anthony Raimondi, investigative journalist Jessica Kraus, entrepreneur Justin Waller, actor Nick Searcy, and more. Several families of the Jan. 6 defendants also confirmed their attendance.
The fundraiser is meant to raise money for Jan. 6 defendants to provide them with “much-needed assistance” throughout the challenges they face. It will also “honor and celebrate” the defendants who participated in a protest song about their struggle called “Justice For All.” The song came out in March 2023 and went Platinum, and the event organizers wish to “pay tribute” to the 20 defendants who were part of it.
Tickets for the event won’t come cheap. They run anywhere from $1,500 for an individual and $50,000 for a table of 12.
