House Republicans Take A Stand Against Illegal Immigration With Two New Bills

House Republicans are taking a bold stand against illegal immigration with two groundbreaking bills. Rep. Cory Mills is leading the charge with legislation that would permanently bar citizenship for those who entered America illegally, sending a clear message that breaking U.S. immigration laws will no longer be rewarded.

At a glance:

• House Republicans introduced the “No Citizenship for Alien Invaders Act” to permanently prevent illegal immigrants from obtaining U.S. citizenship

• The bill would amend the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965, reserving citizenship only for those who respect American laws

• Rep. Cory Mills (R-FL) is leading the effort with co-sponsors including Reps. Josh Brecheen, Anna Paulina Luna, and Andy Harris

• Republicans also introduced the PARENT Act, which would limit birthright citizenship to children with at least one U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident parent

• The legislation supports President Trump’s immigration enforcement agenda, which has already reduced illegal border crossings by 98%

No More Citizenship for Illegal Border Crossers

Florida Congressman Cory Mills has introduced groundbreaking legislation aimed at stopping the reward of American citizenship for those who violate U.S. immigration laws. The “No Citizenship for Alien Invaders Act” would amend the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965 to permanently bar anyone who entered the country illegally from ever becoming an American citizen.

The bill has garnered support from several Republican representatives including Josh Brecheen (R-OK), Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL), and Andy Harris (R-MD).

Congressman Mills didn’t mince words when explaining the urgent need for the legislation. “Under the Biden administration, we saw more than 10 million encounters at our borders, a crisis exacerbated by reckless catch-and-release policies that allowed criminals who broke our laws to remain in the United States,” he stated.

The legislation comes as President Trump’s border policies have already achieved remarkable results, with reports indicating illegal border crossings have decreased by an astounding 98% since he returned to the White House. U.S. Customs and Border Control reported 2.9 million encounters with illegal immigrants in fiscal year 2024 alone.

The PARENT Act: Reforming Birthright Citizenship

In addition to the No Citizenship for Alien Invaders Act, Mills has also introduced the PARENT Act, which addresses the issue of birthright citizenship. This separate but complementary legislation would require at least one parent to be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident for a child born in the United States to receive automatic citizenship.

The PARENT Act builds upon President Trump’s previous Executive Order that aimed to end automatic birthright citizenship for children of illegal immigrants and so-called “birth tourism.” That order is currently facing legal challenges.

Legislative Challenges and Broader Immigration Reform

While the bills are an important step toward implementing President Trump’s immigration agenda, they will probably face political challenges. The legislation would likely need 60 votes to overcome a potential Democratic filibuster in the Senate, requiring bipartisan support that may be difficult to achieve.

Data shows that approximately 818,500 people became U.S. citizens last year through legal channels. The Republican legislation therefore aims to ensure that this privilege remains reserved for those who follow proper legal procedures rather than rewarding those who circumvent them.
