Conservative pollster Frank Luntz slammed former President Donald Trump over his personal attacks on Democratic presidential hopeful Kamala Harris and urged him to “shut up” his mouth.
According to Luntz, Trump should “stop behaving like a petulant child” while speaking about Harris, as it would only damage his own popularity in polls.
Luntz noted that Trump’s aggressive campaign style is pushing voters away from his candidacy, adding that he would advise him not to adopt this combative style of politics and instead focus on talking about problems that are closer to the hearts of American people.
The GOP pollster further argued that Trump is unaware that he will lose his value if he continues to yell every time he speaks to Americans. Furthermore, Luntz suggested that Harris will have six to seven points of lead on Trump at the end of the Democratic convention if the former president does not change his approach immediately.
Luntz’s remarks came after Trump’s continuous harsh comments against Harris, which has created visible division within the Republican circles.
Recently, Trump asserted that he is “entitled” to speak against Harris as she has weaponized the justice system against him and pushed the country into chaos.
Seeing Trump’s rising aggressive behavior, many of his former allies are questioning his mental capability to lead the nation in case of his possible election victory.
Former White House Communication Director Alyssa Griffin, who parted ways with the former president after his claims of election fraud, noted that Trump is having difficulty making a point during his speeches and that he looks like he is “meandering.”
Griffin noted that Trump could have performed well against Biden as he was also facing a similar situation, but Harris’s entry into the presidential race has tilted the situation against him.
John Kasich, the 2016 GOP Presidential candidate, also argued that Trump is making the same mistakes he committed in the 2020 presidential race, adding that he should instead focus on policy issues to come closer to American voters.
Trump also attracted criticism recently for questioning Harris’s racial identity and saying that he does not know whether Harris wants to identify as black or Indian. The former president accused Harris of neither respecting Indians nor black people as he went on to claim that he is the one who respects both these identities.
Meanwhile, Harris is reportedly making a comeback among black voters, who were previously distancing themselves from the Biden campaign. Her popularity is surging among the black voters of key battleground states of Pennsylvania and Michigan, but critics suggest that the vice president has to address the concerns of young and far-left voters to stand a chance in the upcoming elections.
