A Texas family was left devastated earlier this month when four people were killed and another sent to the hospital in critical condition after a street racer crashed into them. Four members of the Rosales family died as they were traveling home from a day at the Six Flags amusement park and dinner at an Asian restaurant shortly after 8pm. Police officers described how the family’s car was hit by a red Dodge Carrier that was going substantially over the speed limit.
The crash occurred on the South Belt Line Road, according to a press release issued by the Grand Prairie Police Department. Five people in total were traveling in the Rosales family’s vehicle when the crash occurred. Three of the family members died on the scene, while another died in the hospital. Father Jessie Rosales, mother Lorena Rosales, 6-year-old Angel Rosales, and 13-year-old Stephanie Rosales all died. 17-year-old Anthony Rosales remains in critical condition.
Speaking to local news outlets last Monday, Delia Rosales, Jessie’s sister, described how they are praying that Anthony survives.
“We cannot believe it. We’re still waiting for my brother to come by. He doesn’t show up,” she said, adding that he was the “backbone” of the family.
Delia also described the family as “united.”
According to witnesses who saw the crash occur, the Charger was racing another vehicle and going over the speed limit. The other vehicle involved with the race, a Dodge Charger Daytona, then drove away from the area after the crash occurred.
A police affidavit also reveals that the crash was caught on a security camera owned by a nearby business. The footage, according to police officers, appeared to show the white Dodge Charger Daytona that was involved with the race driving away slowly. The car was then picked up by another camera running a red line at Kingston Drive and S. Belt Line Road.
We’re sure all our readers will join us in praying for the Rosales family.
