The Beach Boys are a legendary surf-rock band from California that has had a career that has spanned more than 50 years. Throughout the band’s longevity, The Beach Boys have sold more than 100 million records worldwide. Originating in 1961, the last remaining original members of the Beach Boys are now well into their 80s. Original bass guitarist Brian Wilson, who is now 82 years old, has reportedly been unable to care for himself during the later stages of life along with battling dementia.
Media outlet In Touch has been able to obtain court documents regarding Wilson’s situation, where it has been revealed that Wilson is being cared for by a team of medical professionals while the musician lives in his six-bedroom, seven-bathroom, Beverly Hills home in which Wilson purchased in 1999. The house is esteemed to be worth $9 million today.
In February of this year, Wilson’s family filed a petition to place their famous family member under a conservatorship. Wilson’s family agreed to appoint Wilson’s longtime manager LeeAnn Hard as well as Jean Sievers as the bass guitarist’s conservators. Following their decision, Wilson’s family released a statement that stated that the conservatorship was instated to ensure there would be no major changes to Wilson’s care provision and the house in which he resides. Wilson’s family further stated that he will be able to enjoy time with friends and family as well as work on current music projects and participate in “any activities he chooses”.
In May, a California judge signed off on the petition for approval of Wilson’s conservatorship. In the legal bindings, Wilson is currently under 24-hour medical care seven days a week. It has been revealed that Wilson has three caregivers who work full time at his home with him, which the family stated had already been in place long before the conservatorship. In January, Wilson lost his beloved wife Melinda Wilson of nearly 30 years.
